Mr. Jimmie Vega Locklear, 90, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at his home in Concord.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Redeemed Baptist Church. Rev. Jordan Perkins will officiate. The body will lie in state from 12:30 to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Locklear was born December 20, 1935 in Robeson County, NC. He was a son of the late Nanson Locklear and Ella Mae Smith Young. He was a member of Redeemed Baptist Church in Concord. He was a 100% disabled veteran, having served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, and earlier with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, during which time he served in Camp Casey Korea. He was a lifetime member of DAV Chapter 27 in Concord. He was married on June 15th, 1974 to the love of his life. They have shared many memories over the last 51 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Vega Locklear.
Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife, Betty Seals Locklear; three children, Anita Jones of Lumberton, Eugene Hughes and wife Pam of Concord and Rhonda Siemerling and husband Bob of New Park, PA; three sisters, Sara E. Hunt of Lumberton, Geraldine Lowery and husband Benford of Pembroke and Peggy Hardin and husband Dickie of Lumberton; two brothers, Jerald H. Smith of Shannon, NC and Willie B. Young and Treva Elliott of Raeford, NC; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Redeemed Baptist Church, 3301 Roberta Road, Concord, NC 28027.
