Jimmie Lynch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel - Bowling Green on Dec. 9, 2025.
Jimmie "Sherwood" Lynch, age 96, passed in his sleep, in Bowling Green, Kentucky on December 8, 2025. Previously of Dayton, Ohio, and originally Elkton, Kentucky, he was born on February 28, 1929. Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife: Mary (McClure) Lynch, parents: Isaac Lynch and Connie (Greenfield) Martin, grandson Zach Williams, siblings: Isaac "Jr" Lynch, Marie Wilkinson, Charles Lynch, and Emma Ruth Law.
Jimmie is survived by his children: Sandy Heaney (Kevin), Connie Williams (Frank), and Kelly (Eddie) McDavid. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Brendan (Danielle), Brian (Steph), Shelby, Tiffany, Marisa, Mackenzie, and Megan and seven great-grandchildren: Kaislin, Kaiden, Raiden, Kili, Kaiser, Kinley, and Keegan. He's also remembered by many extended family and friends who knew and loved him.
You would be hard-pressed to not find Jimmie outside, in a plaid shirt and ball cap, soaking up the sun or enjoying the fresh air. The former Kentucky farm boy had a green thumb, rarely without a garden to tend with his bare hands (despite missing half of his left ring finger). He also spent his time in automotive for 40 years. Jimmie first served as a mechanic at Rodger's Pontiac in Dayton, then for the Montgomery County Service Depot before ultimately retiring. After retirement, Jimmie worked part time for Ernst Concrete in building supplies as a delivery driver. He's most remembered for his work ethic, his humor, and for his love of the cowboy genre.
While his grandkids gave him a run for his money, causing mischief while he and his wife babysat them, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Now, in death, reunited with his wife, he's likely getting a run for his money from her too.
There will be a private graveside service for Jimmie on Thursday, December 11. The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Sons Lovers Lane Chapel with the arrangements.
