Jimmie Ann Shaw

Jimmie Ann Shaw, age 90, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 9:20 a.m. in her home in Centerville, Georgia. Jimmie was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Earnest. After she graduated high school, Jimmie was trained as a radiology technician in Brimingham, Alabama, where she met her husband of 35 years, Dr. Theodore G. Elchos. They married on February 14, 1960 and moved to Panama City, Florida where Dr. Elchos opened his medical practice as a surgeon. Shortly after they were blessed with their only child, Olympia, in 1963.

Dr. Elchos preceded her in death in February 1991. In 1995 Jimmie married her second husband, Joseph Astel, a retired military man, and they were happily married for 10 years until his death in October of 2004. Jimmie moved back to Tuscaloosa to be near her sister in 2006, where she fell in love with her third husband, James Shaw, a retired plant manager, farmer, and cattle man, who preceded her in death in 2013. She moved to Centerville to be near her immediate family and resided there until her death.

She was a loving mother, she was well traveled, and she loved to keep one foot in the road. She was a social butterfly. Jimmie loved playing cards with her card buddies, dancing and reading. Jimmie attended the First Baptist Church of Centerville, Georgia and she was a very active member of her Sunday School class.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Christian [Clyde] of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; her daughter Olympia Key [Richard] of Centerville, Georgia; her grandsons Richard Patrick Key and Thomas Theodore Key of Centerville, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 12:00pm Thursday, November 13, 2025 at the Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3733 U.S. Hwy 231 North, Panama City, Florida 32404, next to her first husband.
