(SMSgt.) Jimmie Dale Ziegler (USAF – Retired), age 90, passed away on December 7, 2024 in Biloxi.
He was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on July 11, 1934 to John Ziegler and Dorothy Ziegler.
He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years during the Korean War and the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star. After his military career Jimmie worked for the Civil Service from 1984 until 2000. Jimmie became a resident of Biloxi in 1952. He was a member of Southern Star Lodge #500 for over 50 years and was a 33-degree Mason of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was past patron of Ann Grayson Chapter #50, Order of the Eastern Star, holding numerous appointments. He also spent many years working with the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and served as a Rainbow Dad and Rainbow Grandfather. He enjoyed owning and operating Ziegler Frame Shop for 10 years, painting, gardening, and his beloved fur babies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Ziegler and Dorothy Ziegler; brothers, Donald Ziegler, Travis Earl Ziegler; and sisters, Madeline South and Dorothy Coker.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Ann Ziegler of Biloxi; children, Connie Ziegler Scheffler of Ocean Springs, Mike Ziegler of Spring, TX, Mitch Ziegler of Spring, TX, Cindy Thompson of Biloxi, Vandy Mitchell (Stephanie) of Biloxi; sister, Phillis Sanders of Joplin, MO; grandchildren, Annge Fales (Bob) of Brunswick, GA, Shelli Southerlin of Mobile, AL, Amy Tapper (Aaron) of Ocean Springs, Steven Street (Keylee) of Coldspring, TX, Tricia Putnam (John) of Biloxi, Brandi Billot (Chris) of Spring, TX, Brian Ziegler of Rapid City, SD, Natalie Mitchell of Biloxi; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Rd. Biloxi, MS 39531. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at 12:30 PM at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave. Biloxi, MS.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the transportation fund at Joppa Shrine Temple, 13280 Shriners Hospital Blvd, Biloxi, MS 39532.
The family would like to thank special caretakers, Layne Sellers at St. Joseph Hospice; Sheila, Starr, Kayla, from Comfort Keepers; and Jennifer Gautreaux, personal caregiver.
