Jimmy Hale Obituary

Jimmy Darrel Hale, 78, of Monticello, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the Georgia War Veteran’s Home in Milledgeville, Georgia. Born on March 11, 1948, in Cartersville, Georgia, Jimmy lived a life defined by dedication to his family, his work, and his country.

Jimmy served honorably in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. His bravery and sacrifice were recognized with the Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and Vietnam Campaign Medal. His military service remained a source of immense pride throughout his life.

Following his military service, Jimmy built a career as part of construction crews then as an estimator for the General Services Administration, Public Building Services, where he contributed to the federal government with diligence and expertise. He also worked alongside his brother as a drywall contractor, demonstrating his versatility and strong work ethic.

Jimmy shared 35 cherished years of marriage with his beloved wife, Pamela Jane Hale. He is survived by his brother, Billy Hale; sister, Shiela Myers; stepson, Jeremy Savage and his wife Raquel; daughter, Teresa Dwight Botts ; grandchildren Nat Botts, Allison Botts, Jessica Pharr, Brittany Botts, Megan Savage, Katie Savage, Derek Mishu, and Dylan Mishu; as well as 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vivian Hale and sisters, Joy Henson, Nancy Earwood, and Donna Teresa Hale.

In addition to his professional accomplishments and devotion to family, Jimmy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing—often joking about never catching anything—and had a passion for woodworking, which he considered a hobby-in-progress. He treasured conversations with loved ones, enjoyed playing games on his iPad, and spent time watching his favorite TV shows.

Jimmy’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and humor. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held on April 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Georgia. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Covington, Georgia.
