Mr. Jimmy Franklin Harris, age 87, a resident of Mud Gut Road, Belington, WV, departed this life early Saturday morning March 28, 2026 in the Mon General Hospital at Morgantown, WV. Death was following a short illness.

He was born August 2, 1938 at Junior, WV, a son of the late Terry Delmar Sr. and Genevieve Ruth Simmons Harris. On September 24, 1960 he was united in marriage to the former Bernice Randall, who survives at their home in Belington.

Jimmy is survived by his two sons; Steven Ray Harris of Missouri and Jason Todd Harris and fiancé Tiffany of Belington, siblings; Charles "Tom" Harris and wife Judy, Richard H. "Sonny" Harris and wife Marie, Dollie Mae Cross all of Belington, Hellen Ruth Arbogast and husband Jerry of Coalton, Beatrice Kay Redner and husband John of California. Additional survivors include his life-long friend; Rick White, five grandchildren; Steven Harris, Shay Harris, Samuel Harris and fiancé Hailey, Jared Harris and fiancé Alexis, and Katie Harris, and a great-grandchild; Davion. Several nieces, nephews, and a whole host of friends survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son; Brian Harris, five brothers; Robert W. Harris, Walter Perry Harris, David Paul Harris, Glenn "Buck" Harris and Terry D. "Ted" Harris Jr., and a sister; Betty Jean Silvester.

Jimmy attended the schools of Barbour County and graduated from Belington High School with the class of 1957. In his earlier years he attended the Methodist Church but more recently was attending the Faithway Baptist Church near Belington. He proudly served in the Air Force National Guard and was a member of the National Rifle Association since March 2018. He formerly worked for the FBI in Washington, DC, where he met his wife, Bernice. Upon moving back to WV, he began to farm. He owned and operated a cabinet shop and did carpentry for years. He also owned and operated Harris and Son Furniture in Belington, from which he retired. He loved to work on the farm along with his grandson Samuel and son, Jason, which he continued to do up until his passing. He loved to hunt, fish, riding his 4-wheeler and watching westerns on TV. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Friday April 3, 2026 from 3PM-7PM, at this time a funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor David Canny officiating. Cremation will then follow. His cremains will later be laid to rest on the family farm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Faithway Baptist Church P.O. Box 26 Philippi, WV 26416. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.talbottfuneralhome.com. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Jimmy Franklin Harris.
