Jimmy Roger Hemmings

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Hemmings, who left us peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on March 29, 1965, Jimmy was a longtime resident of Newnan, GA, where he proudly served as the Cemetery Superintendent for over 30 years with the City of Newnan. He truly loved his work and cherished his time spent with his dedicated cemetery crew. Jimmy was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Jackie Hemmings, with whom he shared 37 and a half wonderful years. He was a loving father to his daughters, Lacey and Danielle, and a loyal friend to many who knew him. Jimmy's warmth and kindness will be missed but never forgotten. An active member of the Friendship House of Prayer, Jimmy's faith guided him throughout his life. He had a passion for dirt track racing and spent many happy moments cheering for the Braves or sitting on his back porch with Jackie, their family, and his adored dog, Daisy Mae. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas John "T.J." and Sharon Kee Hemmings, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James W. and Priscilla (aka Drewcilla) Helton, his grandparents, Irvin and Ruby Kee and Willis and Christine Hemmings, his Uncle, Tommy Kee, and his Aunt, Louise Brooks. He is survived by his wife, Jackie, his daughters Lacey (James) Hemmings and Danielle (Taylor) Hemmings, his brother Elliot (Laura) Hemmings, his cousins, Tommy and Willie Kee, his nephew, Jason (Rebecca) Hubbard, his nieces, Jamie Morris (Michael Moat), Francis (Cory) Wells, and Lindsey Gither, and his sister-in-law, Cindy (better known as Pearl) (Glen) Fulton. Funeral services to honor Jimmy's life will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, with Pastor Harry Parkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the wonderful life Jimmy led, sharing stories and memories of a truly remarkable man on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at McKoon Funeral Home between 6 - 8 PM.
