Lois "Diane" Hemmings, 78, of Rutledge, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025-Just 2 hours after her 64th wedding anniversary to the love of her life, the late Larry Hemmings.

Born on September 23, 1946, in Fort Valley, Georgia, Diane's life was a beautiful example of devotion, love, and hospitality. At just 14 years old, she married Larry, and together they built a lifetime of memories, adventures, and family traditions. They worked side by side, owning and operating Hemmings Salvage in Snellville and Hemmings Grocery & Lake Supply on Lake Lanier.

While they enjoyed traveling, their hearts were happiest on their beloved houseboat, Diane's Pleasure, at Lake Lanier-surrounded by dear friends and the peaceful waters. Diane had a gift for making every gathering feel special. Her kitchen was her love language-whether it was a grand holiday feast or a "small" meal for two that somehow fed a crowd. Her family will forever remember the joy of sitting around her table at Nana and PawPaw's, sharing food, laughter, and stories.

Diane's greatest pride was her family.

She is survived by her son, Chuck Hemmings, and his wife Emily; grandson, Colton Hemmings, his wife Alyssa, and their son Lawson; granddaughter, Haley McCullough, her husband Clay, and their children Crew and Emersyn, as well as their son Cash, who is already in Heaven, her daughter, Tracey Parham, and her husband, Steven, along with their daughters, Ashley, Bethany, Christy, and Kayley.

She also leaves behind her best friend of a lifetime, Gayle Whitman. Diane cherished Gayle's friendship so deeply that nearly every story she told included a memory they had shared.

Diane was the heart and backbone of her family-steady, strong, and full of love. Her presence was a comfort, her cooking a treasure, and her laugh a light that filled the room. Though her passing leaves an empty chair at the table, her love will forever fill the hearts of those who knew her.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com. Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, A Family Company, 3705 Highway 78 West, Snellville, GA 30039 (770-979-3200) has been entrusted with the arrangements.
