Jim Honaker, 90, of Bluefield, VA passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born September 9, 1935, in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Boyd and Ethel Cochane. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Janet and Fay; brother, Johnny; and granddaughter, Megan.
Jim was retired from Cole Motor Company as a diesel mechanic. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Jim was a people person. He never met a stranger. He was friendly and would talk to anyone. Jim was dearly loved by all who ever knew him. He loved helping people, and he loved spending time with his family. Jim was a kind man and will be missed by everyone.
Those left to cherish Jim's memory are his beloved wife of 55 years who was the love of his life, Janet Honaker; sons, Ken Honaker and wife , Kim and Marc Honaker and wife, Mary; daughters, Misti Mooney and husband, Darryl, and Carrie Delarose and husband, Joel; special grandchildren, Catherine, Brice and wife Kendra ,Jack and wife Kayla, Josh Honaker, Taylor and Hannah Webb, Logan Mooney, Channing Mooney and wife, Leah, and Lauren Honaker; also, his precious great-grandchildren who he loved very much. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Brenda Compton and husband, Don, Kathy Maccready, Becky McKenzie and husband, Lake, and Stella Tate; brothers, Joe Cochrane, and Bobby Cochrane and wife, Linda; and a special sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson.
Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor James Mooney officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Mercer County Veteran's Honor Guard will be conducting Military Graveside Rites.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home.
