Jimmy Jackson Obituary
Jimmy graduated from Cookeville High School in 1956 and served in the Air Force from August 7, 1956, to August 7, 1961. He served in the National Guard from 1952 to 1956 and served in the Air Reserve from 1960 to 1961 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Jimmy worked at Sloan Grocery Store in Cookeville, TN from 1960 to 1963. He worked for Southern Furniture from 1963 to 1964 in Cookeville, TN. Then he worked for Life of Georgia for 19 1/2 years, he retired from Food World after 13 years, during this time he worked for Franks IGA in Murfreesboro, TN for 10 years as well.
Jimmy enjoyed puzzles, board games, camping, and crabbing. He was a member of Southeast Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN for 35 years.
Jimmy is preceded in death by both his parents, L.O. and Ruth Jackson of Cookeville, TN; brother, Robert R. Jackson of Cookeville, TN; a son, Paul Landon Jackson of Pensacola, FL; and a granddaughter, Lisa Jackson of FL.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Vera E. Jackson; sister, Linda Tinch of Cookeville, TN; three children, Janet (David) Winstead of Pensacola, FL, Mary (Mike) Williams of Readyville, TN, and Christopher S. Jackson of Pensacola, FL; two granddaughters, Katherine Jackson of Shalimar, FL and Michelle Reed of Woodbury, TN; also four grandsons, four great grandsons, and 8 great granddaughters.
A Funeral Service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
