Jimmy Wayne Jenkins

Lakeview-Jimmy Wayne Jenkins, age 83, of Greenville passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at his home. He was born on December 21, 1940, in Lakeview to Wayne and Lois "Delphine" (Rowland) Jenkins. Jimmy was raised in the Lakeview area and attended the Gravel Ridge School and Lakeview Community Schools. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1966 and joined the Greenville National Guard serving an additional 20 years. Jimmy married the love of his life, Marilyn Engquist on September 26, 1964. He was employed by Greenville Public Schools as the head of Maintenance for over 26 years, before his retirement. He earned the "Bell Award" for making a significant contribution to the school system in 1987. Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, taking care of his yard and anything else outdoors. He was a member of the American Legion Post 101 in Greenville. Jimmy will be remembered as a kind man, and good father who loved his family and country. He never met a stranger, loved to laugh, tell stories (especially about the war), and had a work ethic that was admired.Jimmy will forever be missed and is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Greenville; 3 daughters, Rhonda (Matthew) Auberle of Seymour, TN, Theresa Jenkins of Benton Harbor, Kimberly (Michael) Horne of Hubert, NC; grandchildren, Richard, Brittany, Daniel, Jessica, Stephany, Zachery, Walter; sister, Beverly Klein of Twin Oaks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Delphine; great-grandson, Bruce Lee; and twin sisters, Joan and Jane Jenkins.
Funeral Services for Jimmy will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Stephen Brigham officiating. Interment will follow at West Pine Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends beginning at 11:00 AM.
