Jimmy Ray Jenkins, 75, of Oakland City passed away Friday, August 15, 2025 at his home in Oakland City. He was born March 20, 1950 in Evansville to James M. and Clara I, (Gore) Jenkins.

Jimmy Ray married Kathy (Besing) June 14, 1980. Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, papaw and brother. He was a Ford man and loved NASCAR, especially the Ford drivers. He liked football and working in the yard. In his younger days he loved riding motorcycles, and was an Elvis impersonator for different fundraisers. Jimmy Ray loved to fish, loved his grand dogs, watching the grandkids ball games and motor cross races. Being a papaw was his greatest pride. He loved to BBQ and entered many competitions, and he enjoyed decorating for Halloween and Christmas.

Jimmy Ray was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Elberfeld American Legion Post 351, and he loved his country. He retired in 2013 from SIBW Body Shop in Evansville and had worked in the auto body business for 50 years.

Jimmy Ray is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy Jenkins of Oakland City; daughter, Stephanie Rhoton of Oakland City; grandchildren, Shane Wilhite (Brittany), Keegan and Trenton Rhoton; sister, Wanda Houchin of Oakland City; and several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Don and Doris Besing; son-in-law, Bub Rhoton; brother-in-law, Mike Houchin; and sister, Merrill Armijo.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Jimmy Ray's life will be held from 3 until 6 pm Thursday August 21, 2025 at the Corn Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City.
