Jimmy Joe Leeder

Jimmy Joe Leeder, born on May 25, 1961, in the charming town of Raton, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, in Albuquerque, surrounded by the unwavering love of his wife, Patty, and his cherished cousin, Jodie Lynn. He was a man whose presence was as comforting as a warm blanket on a chilly evening, and whose laughter could brighten the darkest days.

From a young age, Jimmy Joe was destined for the world of construction, starting his career working alongside his parents at Leeder Construction. He immersed himself in the intricate dance of road construction, acquiring an impressive knowledge that allowed him to look at any parking lot and envision its perfect drainage.  His expertise was not merely about the physical; it spoke to a mind that was always calculating, always creating.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will fondly remember the warmth of his stories, each one a tapestry woven from memories and imagination. Jimmy Joe had a vivid way of bringing tales to life; his narratives danced before your eyes, igniting laughter with the cantankerous humor that was so uniquely his. He had a generous spirit, one that embraced his family and friends with an abundance of love, laughter, and lighthearted teasing. He adored spending time with family, often collecting his young cousins from the bus stop, playfully claiming he was helping them with their homework — a ruse that brought joy and deeper connections to their childhoods.

His interests flowed as richly as his stories; Jimmy Joe was a collector of art pieces, boasting assemblies of glass bottles and knives, each piece a reflection of the man he was—immersed in detail and beauty. His beloved doggie, Sunshine, was a constant companion, sharing quiet moments and grand adventures alike. One his favorite days in 1996, he hunted his first 6 point buck at 6pm. He was so excited that day!

Jimmy Joe is survived by his loving wife, Patty, who stood by him through thick and thin, and his brothers, Matt (Margaret) from Durango, Colorado, and Rod (Sherry) from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Alongside them are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, each carrying a piece of Jimmy Joe with them, honored to be part of his legacy.

He joins the embrace of his parents, James and Jody, who welcomed him back into their arms with the same love he carried throughout his life. As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary soul, we are reminded of the laughter he sparked, the love he gave, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of all who knew him. Jimmy Joe Leeder's spirit will forever echo in stories retold, laughter shared, and memories cherished.
