jimmy Madry Obituary

Jimmy Leon Madry (September 7, 1942 - June 28, 2024)
Jimmy Leon Madry, 81, a devout Christian from Big Spring, Texas, took the hand of God and entered the kingdom of Heaven on June 28, 2024, in Midland, Michigan. Jimmy was born on September 7, 1942, to J.C. Madry and Mamie (Jones) Madry, the youngest of five children. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1962. It was there he met the love of his life, Helen Karen (Hodnett) Madry, by his side for 63 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and PawPaw. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Big Spring, Texas. He worked for Sid Richardson Carbon Black and Fina Oil and Chemical where he retired as a supervisor in 1992.
Jimmy, "PawPaw," loved spending time with his family and friends more than anything in the world. He was the biggest supporter of anything his grandkids participated in, and a familiar face in the bleachers at volleyball and football games, or on the golf course. They were his life and he was theirs. His love and the example he set for them shaped their lives forever. He could think of no better way to spend time than hanging out with grandkids and family watching football, basketball, golf or sitting on the lake fishing with his family or his buddies. Jimmy was always ready for a road trip. He and Karen traveled extensively and created many memories visiting The Greenbrier in West Virginia, Mackinac Island, Michigan, Lake Fork, Texas, and countless other beautiful places. All they needed was a picnic lunch, a full tank of gas, and OnStar Navigation!
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Mamie Madry, brothers Rex and Jesse Madry, and a sister, Billie Jean Madry, who he will meet again in Heaven.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Madry, two daughters, Kimberly Kay Pollard and husband Bill of Big Spring, Texas, Kenda McDonnell and husband Neil of Lake Isabella, Michigan, five grandchildren, Ryan Pollard and wife Megan of Big Spring, Texas, Erin Pollard of Dallas, Texas, Kyle Knott, Michael McDonnell and Ella McDonnell of Lake Isabella, Michigan, his sister, Henrietta Harkrider of Arlington, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Ritchey, John Myers, Steve Stone, Charles Dunnam, Bill Pollard, Neil McDonnell, Ryan Pollard, and Michael McDonnell.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff of MyMichigan Medical ICU in Midland, Michigan, and requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the MyMichigan Health Foundation in memory of Jimmy L. Madry, or to a church of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com.
