Jimmy Carroll McCall, born on Tilley Creek (Jackson County), on February 19, 1947, left this world on Sunday, May 5th.

Jimmy was a beloved husband to Etta Farmer McCall, a devoted father to Brenda McCall Holt and Brooklyn McCoy, a cherished brother to Mary Morgan (Gene), Ray McCall (Glenda), RJ McCall (Doris), and Bill McCall, an admired grandfather to Jimmy “JC” Holt, Kenneth Holt (Brooke), Robin Holt (Samantha), Orry Holt (Angela), Ashleigh Jones, and great grandchildren, a cherished Uncle to many nieces and nephews, and loved by many more family members and friends.

As a proud veteran of the United States Army, he exemplified bravery and selflessness in service to his country. In addition to his military career, Jimmy was also known for his remarkable upholstery work. Also, he was a gifted songwriter, guitarist, singer, and pianist, his melodies continue to resonate in the memories of those who had the privilege of listening to him perform. One achievement close to Jimmy’s heart: building his own home from the ground up. This endeavor stands as testament to his determination, hard work and perseverance.

Jimmy had a generous heart and an endearing sense of humor. His love encompassed animals too – Jimmy raised cows, horses, chickens, and dogs, and particularly loved his granddog, Henry “Hound Dog” McCoy.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents: Harley McCall-Teague & Curlee McCall, his brothers: Charles Timothy “Tim” McCall, John William McCall, & Ronald Leo McCall, his sisters: Betty Ann McCall (Fuller) & Martha Lou McCall (Mullins), and a great-grandchild, River Holt.

Please join us to celebrate his life: Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9th from 6pm-8pm at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, followed by Funeral & Burial services taking place on Friday, May 10th at 2pm at New Hope Baptist Church in Sylva.
