Jimmy Eugene Moore, 68 of Statesville, died Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born in Alexander County on January 8, 1955, to Shirley Harris Moore and the late Curtis Moore. He was also preceded in death by his late wife, Dedra’s mother, Debbie Ashley Moore.
Jimmy was a 1973 graduate of North Iredell High School. He was the owner and operator of JEMS Grading and Paving. Jimmy loved playing golf, watching NASCAR, building homes, and riding his Harley. He loved people and never met a stranger. He grew up at Pisgah Methodist Church and later attended Concord Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Building cars and racing on the local dirt tracks was one of his favorite hobbies. More than anything, Jimmy loved his family, especially his grandchildren and made it a point to attend every game, pageant, cheerleading event, and anything else they were involved in. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Shirley Moore, his wife of four years, Jane Elmore Moore, a son, Bradley Moore, a daughter, Dedra Chapman (Daniel), four grandchildren, Austin Chapman, Bryson Chapman, Payton Chapman, Paislyn Chapman, three brothers, Dale Moore (Donna), Terry Moore (Nancy), Kent Moore (Vicky), a sister, Pam Lum (Lynn), Kim Harris Davis, former wife and Bradley’s mother, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Pisgah Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Duncan and Pastor Tom Deane officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, November 17, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
