Jimmy "Steve" Toney

Jimmy Steven Toney, age 55, of Pelahatchie, MS went to be with his Lord and Savior January 30, 2026 after a short illness.  He passed away at home surrounded by loved ones.  He was born June 6, 1970 at Morton, MS.

Steve will be remembered for his kindness to all but especially his nieces and nephews, to whom he was very close, taking them to school faithfully everyday.  He made friends in the school pick-up line and at Fairway Foods where he worked for thirty years.  Everyone in Pelahatchie who knew Steve liked him and he returned their feelings.  He was a good natured, kind and helpful person, running errands and helping his parents.  He will greatly be missed by all who knew him.  

Steve was a 1990 graduate of Pelahatchie High School.  Steve was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and Pelahatchie Chiefs, win or lose.  He never missed a home game or away game with his family Doug Till.  He was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS.  Steve got up everyday and made coffee for his parents and then went to Davis Chevrolet which is now Elmore's Towing and made coffee for all his friends.  He was known around town for stopping by the stores and helping out anyway he could.  

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sylvester and Daisy Toney and Plummer and Lou Alice Till; uncles, Johnny Till (Jeanette), Howard Till (Donna Fay), George Till, Larry Till; nephews, David Toney, Sr. and Derek Till.

He is survived by his loving parents, Jimmy and Sandra Toney of Pelahatchie; brothers, Mike Toney (Melissa) of Johns and Greg Toney (Tracy) of Pelahatchie; nephews, James Toney (Haylee), Alan Toney (Lexi); nieces, Madison Reinhardt (Lucas) and Rylee Toney; 2 fur babies, BJ and Rosie; aunts, Betty Till and Dorothy Till; numerous great nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held 5pm -8pm Monday, February 2, 2026 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton and Tuesday from 10am - 11am at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  Then visitation will be held Tuesday from 12 - 12:30pm at Eastside Baptist Church in Pelahatchie.  Church service will be held at 12:30pm Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Eastside Baptist Church with graveside following in the church cemetery.  Bro. Scott Adcox and Bro. Robin Brumfield will officiate the services.  Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton is honored to serve the Toney family.
