Jimmye Hill Obituary

Visit the Wade Funeral Home & Crematory - Arlington website to view the full obituary.

Jimmye Charles (Jim) Hill, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, went to his Forever home on Wednesday, Sept. 24, after returning to his earthly home in Mansfield, Texas, just a day earlier while recovering and rehabbing from recent health issues.

Born to Clarence and Flo (Mulanax) Hill on July 16, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas, Jim graduated from Poly High School in 1956 and enlisted the same year, serving seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He attained the rank of Lance Corporal before his honorable discharge in 1963.

While beginning a career with Texas Electric (now Texas Utilities) initially as a meter reader, he was a part-time student at TCU before graduating from UT-Arlington in 1972 with a BA degree in accounting. Altogether, Jim spent 34 years with Texas Electric and was the Employee Benefits Supervisor before retiring in 1992.

An avid golfer, Jim enjoyed weekly rounds with his Monday and Thursday groups, served as a Marshall for the PGA's Colonial Invitational in Fort Worth for 40 years and also marshalled at his home course at Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield. His love of golf also stretched to annual trips to some of the country's elite golf destinations, where he played as many as 36 holes in a day.

Jim and his wife, June (Caldwell) Hill, enjoyed traveling with friends to Alaska, Australia and England, as well as taking several cruises. "Grandpa" also took great pride in his grandsons and all their accomplishments, sitting through countless baseball games (including once when he was mistakenly ejected for yelling at the umpire).

A faithful servant of the Lord, Jim grew up going to Sagamore Hill Baptist Church in Fort Worth, was a longtime member at Handley United Methodist Church in Fort Worth and more recently at Mansfield First Methodist Church.

Jim Hill is survived by his wife of 48 years, June Hill; sons Jim Alan Hill of Mansfield and Jerry Hill (and wife Julie) of China Spring; grandsons Steven Hill (and wife Hayley) of Hickory, N.C., Jonathan Hill (and wife Erin) of Waco, Alex Dorough of Waco and Zac Dorough of China Spring; and great-grandchildren Amos Hill, Micah Jane Hill and Jameson Hill. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Young (and husband Mark) of McKinney; many nephews and nieces; and goddaughter Josie Hammons Whetstone (and husband Sean) of San Antonio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Fred Hill (and wife Connie) of Roanoke.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 6-8 pm at Wade Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 10:30 am at First United Methodist, 777 N Walnut Creek Drive, Mansfield, Texas 76063. Graveside to follow at 12:30 pm at Skyvue Memorial Gardens, 7220 Rendon Bloodworth Road, Mansfield, Texas 76063.  His grandson, Steven Hill, will officiate the service, with Jonathan Hill, Ronnie Dunlap, Terry Dunlap, Jimmy Cecil Hill, Daren Hill, Kerry Hill, Richard Dorough Jr., and Keith Hammons serving as pall bearers.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital of Memphis, Tenn., or Common Ground Feed the Children of Mansfield.
