Graveside funeral services for Jo Ann Stapleton Bresett, age 85 of Calhoun, LA and formerly of Caldwell Parish, will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson with Bro. Neil Everett officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Jo Ann was born on January 6, 1941, at Columbia, Louisiana, to the union of her parents, John Wesley Stapleton and Fannie Laura Davis Stapleton. She passed from this life on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe following an extended illness.
Jo Ann grew up in the Columbia area and was one of eleven children born to her parents. She was preceded in death by her siblings Euda Lee Stapleton, Reba Stapleton, Francis Lary, Rudolph Stapleton, Paul Stapleton, Arlene Ruddell, Estelle Allen, Carroll Gene Stapleton and Virginia Ledoux. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, William Bresett. Jo Ann and William met in the United States Navy where they both served their country faithfully.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are two sons, Wesley Bresett and William Bresett; her daughter, Crystal Bresett, an adopted daughter: Pam Coker White (Todd) and her baby sister, Betty Ruth Sharp (David). Her beloved grandchildren: Derik Patton (Stephanie) Dustin Patton (Carla), John Wesley Bresett and Brandon Tyler Bresett. Her great grand-children: Julia Brooke Kimmerer, Kira Patton, Aiden Patton, Kyrie Patton, and Amelia Bresett; and two great-great-grandchildren, Julia Brooke Kimmerer (Jesse) ,Ophelia Kimmerer and Jackson Kimmerer,
The family would like to acknowledge a special granddaughter: Carla Patton. and a special niece: Michelle Ledoux (Edwin). These two gave of themselves to take care of their grandmother and aunt.
Pallbearers include Dustin Patton, Derik Patton, Wesley Bresett, Zeb Tucker, David Sharp, and Russell Lary.
