The Lord looked down from heaven's light,

Saw Edith shining, bold and bright.

With tender grace, He reached His hand,

And whispered softly, "It's time, my lamb."

Her laughter echoed through the skies,

Her spirit free, her heart at peace.

No more pain, no need to roam-

She heard His voice: "Come, child… come home."

Jo Edith Brown, beloved mother, friend, and joyful soul, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.

Joe Edith Brown was born on March 22, 1945, at Medical Center Hospital to AP and Mary Jo Brown, Jo was a proud lifelong resident of Odessa and a graduate of Odessa High School, Class of 1963.

Jo lived with a playful heart and a generous spirit. She was a devoted member of Bethel Assembly of God, always ready to lend a hand, offer a prayer, or brighten someone's day with her signature silliness. Whether helping in the church kitchen or cracking jokes in the pews, Jo brought warmth and laughter wherever she went.

A proud member of the African Violet Society, Jo nurtured beauty in both her garden and her relationships. She also found unexpected joy and connection as the self-proclaimed "godmother" of the GuildWars game, where she built lasting friendships and shared her love of storytelling with people around the world.

Jo was known for her unforgettable sense of humor-especially her mischievous grin and her habit of popping out her teeth just to get a laugh. Her unique way of saying "yes" and "no" became a family trademark, and her playful antics kept her children smiling through every season of life.

She cherished her two children, Julie McKinnis and Paschal Blumberg of Odessa, with fierce devotion and endless love. They were her pride, her joy, and her greatest legacy.

Jo's life was a celebration of joy, faith, and connection. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her laughter, kindness, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Jo Edith Brown is preceded in death by her grandson, Sean McKinnis; her son-in-law, David McKinnis; and her sister, Benny Lu Evans.

Jo Edith Brown is survived by her children, Julie McKinnis of Odessa and Paschal Blumberg of Odessa; her daughter-in-law, Brandy Blumberg of Sabinal; and her grandchildren: Val Paschal Blumberg of Sabinal, Judah Seth Blumberg of San Antonio, Raistlin Blumberg of Denton, Sally Jo McKinnis of Brighton, Colorado, and Anthony Vandburg of San Antonio. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Ann Jones, Don Jones of Denison and Dolly Thomas of Norfolk, Idaho.
