Jo Christopher

Norma Jo Finley Christopher, age 68, long-time resident of Wright City, Oklahoma, died Monday, September 13, 2021 at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. She was born on Friday, August 7, 1953 to Charles Austin and Era Ellen Campbell Finley in Hugo, Oklahoma.
Jo was a woman who loved her family and education. She was a devoted educator that served children of all ages for 44 years. She was a active member of the Wright City United Methodist Church for many years. There she served as a Sunday school teacher, delivering the children's sermons and participating in Vacation Bible School. Jo was a leader in her community and proudly participated in the Wright City Alumni Association, Wright City Chamber of Commerce, and Delta Kappa Gamma. Jo enjoyed reading, researching, directing her daughters, and storytelling. Jo was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be missed and loved by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Reba Finley; her husband, Robert Christopher; her brother, Bob Finley; her sister, JoAnna Cupit and her grandson, Robert Lane Roath.
Jo is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Erica and David Roath of Wright City, Oklahoma and Austin and Jeramy O'Berry of Collinsville, Oklahoma; her siblings, Lynn Coons of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Sherry Finley of Wright City, Oklahoma, Nita Campbell and husband, Loyd of Wright City, Oklahoma; sister in law, Wanda Finley of Sawyer, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Alex, Reed, Eli Roath of Wright City, Oklahoma and Finn and Eva O'Berry of Collinsville, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Shanna Taylor, Chad Coons, Boyce Coons, Melva Palmer, Susan Slabaugh, Logan Lindly, Blane Lindly, Collin Finley, Laci & Michael Pendergraff and Toby Trantham and a host of other relatives; friends and students.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Wright City High School Auditorium with Tom Ellis and Staci Evans officiating. Cremation services are entrusted to Brumley Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Wright City Schools or to the Wright City United Methodist Church.
