JO DENISE HAMILTON COILA
October 2, 1953 ˜ March 6, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jo Denise Hamilton Coila.
Jo was born in Oregon City, OR, on Oct. 2, 1953. She passed peacefully at home on March 6, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma.
At the age of three Jo moved with her family to Vancouver, WA. Graduated from Fort Vancouver in 1971. She met her husband in 1970 and married in 1976. They were married 49 years. She worked at Columbia Presbyterian Church here in Vancouver. She was Administrative Assistant to Pastor/Head of Staff for 30 + years.
Jo loved going to car shows with her husband Loren. She cherished her mornings with Loren, having a cup of cream-with shot of coffee in it. She enjoyed working in their yard, vegetable and fruit garden. She especially loved daffodils and roses. Each spring new clusters of daffodils would pop and bring happiness to her. Jo enjoyed embroidering, reading, cooking, baking and trying new recipes. She sent cards of encouragement to friends and loved ones. For several years she ran in The Race for the Cure wearing her pink shirt and hat; she was joined by friends, sisters and nieces.
She was in care of Peace Health Hospice at her home with her family. She was cared for by her husband Loren, her niece Lynn, friend Rachel, her sisters Tracy and Sharon, her brother Jim and a special thanks to his wife Romell for keeping Loren and Jo in delicious baked goodies. Thanks to the Peace Health Hospice Team for the wonderful care provided to make her comfortable in her final days.

My heart is shattered. I love Jo so much. She has been such a wonderful friend to me since the late 70's. She has been a trusted confidant and inspirational guide as a sister in the Lord. In fact, three years ago when I had a very serious injury that was not healing, she grabbed my hand and prayed for me. Two days later at the next doctor appointment, (I was going twice week for wound care) they were astonished at the speed of healing since the beginning of the week. I miss you terribly already Jo, but I know I will see again. Thank you for being my friend all these years! Love and hugs to the family. You all mean so much to me.
