Jo-Dee Hortz Obituary
Mrs. Hortz was born in Griffin, Georgia on August 24, 1946. Her parents, Joe Harmon Sims and Mary Azelle (Dee) Sims, and her brother, Michael George Sims, preceded her in death. Her husband, Charles (Chuck) F. Hortz Jr., joined his wife in eternal rest on Sunday, December 7, 2025. She attended Griffin High School, worked at Crompton-Highland Mills for the majority of her working career, and was a member of Highland Methodist Church in Griffin, Georgia.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Dee Ison Kenney; son, Thomas Jerry Ison, Jr. and his wife Heather; grandchildren, Kathryn Kenney Doss and husband Paul, Byron Keith Kenney and wife Madison, and Layla Grace Ison; great-grandchildren, Cora Elizabeth Doss, Ann Kathryn Doss, and Isley Rae Kenney; and nephew, Joe Sims.
The visitation will be on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Followed by a memorial service in the chapel. Pastor Herb Flanders and Pastor Alan Benson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Highland Methodist Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
