Jo Ann Nolen Herring

Jo Ann Herring, 86, of Sandy Hook, MS passed away March 12, 2026, at Marion General Hospital in Columbia, MS. She was born January 22, 1940, in Arkansas to the late Leo Nolen and Edith Johnston Nolen. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband Huey P. Herring; great granddaughter Marlee Ann Spears; brother Bob Nolen; and sister Margaret Fortenberry.

Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Lisa Herring; son, Perry Herring (Dana); grandchildren Morgan Spears (Cody); Brooke Rowell (Eli), Miles Maliden (London); and Michael Maliden (Victoria); great grandchildren Dalton Spears, Benson Spears, Cole Rowell, Carter Rowell, CarleeBeth Rowell, Mary Hunter Maliden, and Greyson Rouse; brother, Charlie Nolen (Mona); along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Mrs. Herring was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother that enjoyed cooking and baking. She will be remembered for making the best fried chicken and chocolate pie. For 30 years she worked as bookkeeper for Improve Water Association and was a long-time member of Carson Springs Baptist.

Visitation will be held at Carson Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 1:00 PM until funeral service at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Carson Spring Church Cemetery. Brother Carl Dickens and Brother Bo Walker will officiate. Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral will oversee arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Eli Rowell, Cole Rowell, Carter Rowell, Cody Spears, Michael Maliden, and Miles Maliden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Davis Herring and Hunter Herring.
