Jo Ann Roush, 87, of Broadway passed away January 30, 2026 at the English Meadows Assisted Living in Harrisonburg.

She was born May 12, 1938 in Criders to the late Burton Sr. and Ressie Dove Caplinger.

Jo Ann was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a cook for VMRC and for a short time at the Life Care Center in New Market, but her greatest job was raising her family, from her siblings to children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

On December 31, 1956 she married James Samuel Roush who preceded her in death on December 21, 2003. She then married David E. Williams on September 10, 2018 and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2024.

Surviving is a son, Christopher Roush and wife Kathy, daughter; Laura Hisey and husband Mark, grandchildren; Jill Showalter and husband Brad, Katelyn Dean, Austin Roush, Colton Hisey; great grandchildren, Desarae Showalter, Alexis Showalter, Dillon Showalter; great great grandson, Bentley Showalter; sister, Alice Derrer; brothers, Bob Caplinger, Burton Caplinger, Jr., Wesley Caplinger; son-in-law, Robert Dean.

In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Roush-Dean; grandson, Joseph Roush; and sister, Shirley Strickler.

Services will be private.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her immediate caregivers that treated Jo Ann like she was their own mother and to the Broadway Rescue Squad.
