Jo Carol (Morrow) Silvers was born on August 8, 1960 in
Athens, Georgia to the late Boyd H. Morrow and JoAnn (Bryant) Morrow. She peacefully went to be with Jesus on September 27, 2023 reaching the age of 63. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, James Silvers, and nephew twins Evan and Matthew Davis.
Realizing she was not saved, Jo Carol asked Jesus into her heart on March 23, 2003, and was baptized on March 30, 2003 here at Immanuel Baptist Church where she faithfully served.
She grew up in the Murl community and loved her high school years at Wayne County High School, participating in band as a clarinet player and a majorette. She was homecoming queen as a freshman and also had fond memories of her class of 1978. Jo Carol graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor's degree in Textiles, Merchandising, and Manufacturing in 1982, to which she later added a Master's degree in teaching.
On October 9, 1982 she married the love of her life Joe(y) E. Silvers, lacking 12 days being married 41 years. God blessed this marriage with 2 wonderful children, Dr. Joseph T. Silvers (Dana) of London, Ky. and Laura A. Jolly (Anthony) of
Monticello, Ky. She loved and cared for her children choosing to not work till they were off to school. Having her own "Silver Lining Interiors" business making custom window treatments, she never missed picking them up at school or catering to their every need or want. She dearly loved her two grandsons, Everett D. Silvers(3) and Judson D. Jolly(2), and made sure they were the center of her attention. She loved taking care of them and spending time riding the "Grammy Cart" with them. They absolutely adored her. On September 4th, she got to meet her granddaughter, Tessa Jo Silvers, born on August 30, 2023. Jo Carol always enjoyed many slumber parties and peanut butter sandwiches with her "grand dog" Ellie. Jo Carol especially loved spending time with Joey on the lake or riding in the Jeep.
She loved her mother dearly and spent as much time as needed seeing to her needs. She cherished having three siblings that she had grown up with, and enjoyed talking with and seeing them and their families. Her sisters, Debra Chittenden (Barton) of
Louisville, Ky., Diane Davis (Edgar) of
Monticello, Ky., and Cathy Glass (Gordon) of
Georgetown, Ky., loved and protected their little sister, Jo Carol being the youngest of the four. She was dearly loved by her nephew, three nieces, and her mother-in-law, Faye Silvers.
Jo Carol had a true servant's heart when it came to service for her Lord Jesus Christ, whom she is now with. She was in charge of keeping the church decorated for the seasons, special occasions, events, and functions. She also decorated the stage for "Kids Camp" every year. She had a special gift for making things look beautiful.
She directed many Vacation Bible School programs which required the creation of elaborate backdrops and practicing skits with the teenagers and adults. Jo Carol oversaw children's church, went on many mission trips, did crafts with the girls at Otter Creek Academy, helped teach Sunday School, was a youth leader, helped with church meals, participated in ladies fellowship, and organized Operation Christmas Child Shoebox assembling. She also sang in the choir for 38 years. She is irreplaceable.
Jo Carol, along with Joey, helped to start Silvers Hometown Pharmacy in December of 2014, where she worked hard and tried to be "Momma" to all the employees. They loved her special recipe chili, but loved her even more. She was known for her beautiful smile to all the customers.
She is already sadly missed by her family, church family, and friends who loved her so much. Praise God from whom all blessings flow, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. She is in Heaven now, and we that are saved will see her again.
