Jo Ann Thurman Wash, age 80, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Saturday March 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Jo Ann was born in Frankfort, KY on May 21, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Hazel Quire Stephens and Everett "Steve" Stephens. She retired from Union Underwear and Bradford Square in Frankfort, KY. Jo Ann was a strong advocate on helping others through volunteer work at Open Hands and gathering cloths for homeless Veterans. She also made monthly contributions to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Jo Ann had many interests. She loved music, dancing, spending time with family and took pride in her home and yard. Jo Ann was also a member at East Frankfort Baptist Church.
She is survived by her four children, Teresa (Paul) Rassenfoss, Tina (Ricky) Purvis, Earlene Scott (Rodney) Barker, and John Wash, all of Lawrenceburg; 6 grandchildren, Lesley (David) Morris, Lisa Wash, Jo (Randy) Denneman, Tabitha (Joe) McCowan, Chase (Angel) Wash and Julia Wash; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Patty (Bob) Dyal, of Jacksonville, FL.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mike Stephens, Betty Wooldridge, John L. Thurman, Jackie Moore and granddaughter, Amanda Robinson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Gash Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Kyle McDaniel officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
Casket bearers will be Jessie Morris, Ricky Purvis, Paul Rassenfoss, Rodney Barker, David Morris and Joe McCowan.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Bluegrass Care Navigators, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601 or the Anderson Humane Society, 1410 Versailles Rd, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
