Memorial services for Jo Ellen (Burton) Wier, 86, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Hill Baptist Church in Lufkin with Dr. John Greene officiating.
Mrs. Wier was born on February 20, 1939, in Mt. Calm, Texas, to the late Lester Berron Burton and Mary Ellen (Lewis) Burton, and died Thursday, July 3, 2025, in Lufkin.
Mrs. Wier served her Lord through faithful prayer. She retired from The Paper Mill as a data processer. Mrs. Wier enjoyed reading, puzzles, church, and listening to Joel do "pretty much" anything.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Lisa and Dave Leymeister of Montgomery, TX; son and wife, Joel and Teresa Wier of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Kim and Barry Bennett of Lufkin; grandson and wife, Blake and Christie Leymeister of Montgomery, TX; grandson and wife, Miles and Tori Leymeister of Austin, TX; granddaughter and husband, Sidney and Aaron Thompson of Louisville, KY; granddaughter and husband, Micah and Mac Graham of Missouri City, TX; granddaughter, Abigail Wier of Houston, TX; grandson and wife, Noah and Jamie Wier of Nacogdoches, TX; 7 great-grandchildren, sister, Valeria Mayes; brother, Kenneth Burton; sister-in-law, Diana Burton; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald S. Wier; parents; grandson, Jason Leymeister; sister, Gloria Wiley, and brother-in-law, Dean Wiley.
Special memorials may be made to Harmony Hill Children's Building, 2708 South Chestnut Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
