Joan Allison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tri-County Cremation & Funeral Home on Oct. 9, 2025.
Joan Marie Allison (Carlson) age 89, beloved wife to the late John P. Allison and mother to Kathryn Allison and Karen Farmer, peacefully passed away on the morning of September 28, 2025, leaving a space in our hearts that can never be filled. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Theodore and Frances Carlson and raised alongside her younger siblings Delores, Dale, and David in Madison Heights. Joan met the love of her life, John, whom she married on September 1, 1966. Their love resulted in their two daughters, Kathryn (life partner Warren Jenkins) and Karen (married to Joseph E. Farmer, Jr. and mother to Joshua and Sarah Farmer). Joan was a dependable source of support and was always giving her "two cents" worth of advice. She was never short on opinions. Joan's strong sense of individuality was accompanied by an uncanny ability to converse with and connect to anyone. She enjoyed sitting outside chatting and drinking wine with friends and family and was very active in her church. Joan had an exceptional talent when it came to working with her hands, be it cross-stitching, crocheting, quilting, or baking. Joan was famous for her daily neighborhood walks to ensure the local dogs were properly fed. Joan is survived by her daughters Kathryn Allison (Warren Jenkins), Karen (Joey) Farmer, grandchildren Joshua and Sarah Farmer, and brother David (Barbara) Carlson, and her sister-in-law Nancy Carlson. Joan was preceded in death by her husband John, her brother Dale, and her sister Delores.
