Joan Bakalar (nee: Wagner) of Defiance, Missouri, passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 75. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend. For 18 years, she dedicated her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Park Lane Nursing Home, where her compassion for others shone through in every interaction. Joan, aka "Grandma Joanie" adored her grandchildren, cherishing each moment spent shopping and spoiling them. They were truly her world, and her love for them was boundless. She would greet her grandchildren with arms full of goodies singing her theme song "It's Grandma Joanie time." In her spare time, she found solace in nature, enjoying boating on the lake and casting her line for an afternoon of fishing and tending to her garden. Known for her strong opinions and spirited conversations, Joan was often described as a "gossip queen," always in the know and sharing the latest tidbits with friends and family. She had a talent for planning family events and parties, creating lasting memories for those she loved. Joan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald "Ron" Bakalar; She is survived by her son, Steve (Amy Pierce) Bakalar of Wentzville, MO; Ken (Deneke) Bakalar of Wentzville, MO; four grandchildren, Justin Bakalar, Kyla (Devin) Heavel, Bailey Bakalar, Braden Bakalar; four great grandchildren, Levi, Brooks, Wyatt, and Lawson; She is preceded in death by her father, Albert Wagner, mother, Marion Wagner (nee: Prisement), brother, Richard Wagner.
