Joan Barat

Joan Barat, 87, beloved wife of the late Louis Barat, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022.
Joan was born in Simpson, Pennsylvania to the late Stephen and Anna Danchak. At an early age, her family relocated to Clifton where she then resided for more than 80 years. Joan was a homemaker before re-entering the workforce as an executive secretary in the School of Business at Montclair State University from where she retired.
She was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Chapel in Woodland Park. Joan enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, spending time with family and friends and discussing world events. She also enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking. Her Christmas cookies were a seasonal treat and her special coffee cake was the center of many birthday celebrations. Joan will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son Stephen A. Barat and his wife Stacey, her granddaughter Emily Barat, her sister Elaine Lembeck as well as her nieces and nephew Debra, Linda, Allison, Michele and Michael.
Visitation will be Friday December 9, 2022 from 3 to 7pm at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Avenue Clifton, NJ. The funeral services will be offered at 9:00 am on Saturday December 10 at St. Michael's Chapel, 415 Lackawanna Avenue, Woodland Park, NJ.
