Pat Barrick, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, November 22, at Garden View Place in Monona. Services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am until the time of the service. Lunch will be served after the services. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery northwest of Livermore. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Humboldt. Joan Patricia 'Pat' Carlson was born on November 12, 1934, near Rutland in Humboldt County, Iowa, the daughter of Art Carlson and Cora Opheim. She was educated in the Rutland schools and graduated from Rutland High School in May of 1953. Pat married Don Kiley in June of 1953. To them, 3 sons were born; Steve, Dave and Dan. They farmed together in Humboldt County near Holmes and Livermore until Don lost his battle with cancer in 1977. Pat remarried to Ray Barrick in 1988, and they lived in Dakota City. Pat worked for Humboldt County in Home Health Care from 1976-1996, and Ray farmed south of Clarion. Ray passed away in 1994. After Ray's passing Pat had a special friendship in Roy Nygaard. They shared a very special friendship for over 20 years until his death in September of 2017. The couple enjoyed dancing to Polka music, visiting casinos and visiting both of their families.
Pat is survived by her sons; Steve (Deb), Lansing, Iowa, Dave (Joyce), Harpers Ferry, Iowa and Dan of Anamosa, Iowa. 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. And her sister Shirley Stockwell of Fort Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Cora Carlson, her husbands, Don Kiley and Ray Barrick and friend Roy Nygaard, her brothers, Dean and Edward Carlson, 2 grandsons, Keith and Dan and 1 granddaughter, KariAnne.
Pat was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Her church family was very important to her. She helped establish the Friends in Faith Bereavement Circle and was active in organizing and hosting the yearly Christmas Tree Walk for years. She had a long-time group of friends who met for coffee once each month for over 20 years which included, Norma Beecher, Virginia Hansen, Millie Fox and Sharon Herren. Pat enjoyed spending time with family and friends, tending to her flowers and her yard, bird watching and dancing to polka music.
Memorials may be directed to Faith United Methodist Church in honor of Pat.
