Joan G. "Green" Boyer

Joan G. Boyer, 92, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Suji Home. She was born on June 17, 1933, in Windber, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Joseph Green and Alice Irene (Latchaw) Pebly.

Joan was a 1951 graduate of Windber High School in Windber, Pennsylvania. She was employed at a rural telephone exchange company after high school, then at Sylvania Plant in Brookville, PA and later was employed in sales at Hudson's, Macy's and Marshall Fields and was known to many as the "Perfume Lady". Joan married the love of her life, Vernon Boyer in Windber, PA on September 4, 1952. She and Vernon pioneered the First Assembly of God Church in Brookville, PA in 1952, where they served for 24 years. They also pastored in Winter Haven, FL, Lakeland, FL, Rolla, MO, Kalamazoo, MI, Elizabethtown, KY and Elmira, NY. They then retired to Battle Creek in 1994 after 45 years of ministry. Joan was an avid member of Battle Creek First Assembly of God, where she loved to volunteer.

Joan is survived by her children, Dale (Susan) Boyer, Marilyn (Ron) Gore, Jewell (Rick) Rude; brother, William "Bill" (Carol) Green; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Green; mother, Alice Pebly; husband, Vernon Boyer; sister, Esther Davis; brothers, Fred (Loretta) Green, and Dennis Green.

Joan loved her family and being in ministry with her husband. She devoted herself to the Lord and loved teaching others the word. She enjoyed sewing, and tending to her flowers.

Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm.
