Joan Buehler

Joan Buehler, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on September 12, 2025, at the age of 90 in Valencia, California. Joan's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy of learning. Born in Wisconsin on November 3, 1934, Joan spent her childhood in Milwaukee and Marshfield, where she excelled in school. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts with a specialization in Mathematics from Marquette University, Joan furthered her education with a Master's degree from San Fernando Valley State College. Her passion for learning would remain a central part of her life. Joan dedicated her career to education, teaching high school math for many years in the Los Angeles School District, where she touched the lives of countless students. After retiring, Joan embraced the world with her characteristic curiosity and adventurous spirit, spending over 25 years traveling both across the United States and internationally. Whether by car, train, or cruise ship, she explored new places, often visiting the Canadian Rockies with her husband Jim and other family members. Joan's greatest joy was always her family. She is survived by her three children: Catherine Velotta (John), Jim Buehler (Katherine), and Barbara Kaiser (Ken), along with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who brought her endless happiness. She is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Wiles. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents Florence and Alvin Wolski, her sister Elizabeth Stucky, and her brother Michael Wolski. In addition to her love for travel, Joan enjoyed spending time with friends and family, whether through card games, needlework, or knitting. She was also a devoted spectator at her grandchildren's school activities, always proud of their accomplishments. A celebration of Joan's life will be held on September 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Utter McKinley Mortuary (11071 Columbus Ave., Mission Hills, CA 91345), followed by interment at San Fernando Mission Cemetery (11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills, CA 91345). Joan will be remembered for her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her family and students. She will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
