Joan M. Conroy

Joan M. Conroy, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the age of 94 in Malden, MA. Born on September 22, 1930, in Weymouth, MA, Joan was the beloved daughter of the late James J. Conroy and Mary H. (Kelly) Conroy. She grew up in the warm and close-knit community of Hingham, MA, where she also completed her education, graduating from Hingham High School.
Joan's life was marked by her unwavering kindness, generosity, and passion for the people and activities she loved. Her sense of humor was a beacon of joy for all who knew her, and her laughter was a common and comforting sound to her family and friends. Joan's professional life was spent as a dedicated research assistant in the private placement division with New England Financial Company, where she made significant contributions over her 35-year tenure.
An avid golfer, Joan's love for the game was only matched by her skill on the greens. Her competitive spirit was always delivered with a smile, and she was known for her sportsmanship and the camaraderie she shared with fellow golfers. Joan's generosity extended beyond the golf course; she was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word to those in need.
Joan's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was a source of strength and inspiration to her late siblings, Mildred Stopyra, Mary Cargill, Eleanor Conroy, Joseph Conroy, Donald Conroy, and Paul Conroy. Her numerous nieces and nephews were blessed with her affection and support, and she cherished the time spent with them, celebrating their achievements and milestones.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM in the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Saint Mary's Church, Herbert Street, Melrose. Interment will follow in Saint Paul Cemetery, Hingham. Family & Friends respectfully invited to attend.
