Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service - Richland Center on Mar. 27, 2023.
Joan Marie Deets of Richland Center went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023 at the age of 86. She was born July 16th, 1936 in Richland Center, the daughter of Bernard and Helen (Resac) Carter. Joan spent her childhood on the family farm in Richland County in the Town of Forest. She graduated from West Lima High School as Valedictorian in 1954. Joan then moved to Richland Center to work as a secretary for the Koenig Insurance Agency. She married Larry Deets on April 19th, 1958 in Hillsboro. Joan stayed at home to be a full-time mother to her three children until all were in school. She then returned to the Koenig-Nelson-Beggs-Schwartz Insurance Agencies, where she spent a combined 32 years as a secretary and later as an insurance agent.
Since moving to Richland Center, Joan was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Her unwavering faith in God guided her throughout her life. Joan loved watching a variety of sports and she was a loyal supporter of the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers and Professional Golf, particularly when Tiger Woods was playing. She was especially proud of the fact that she was at Super Bowl XXXI in New Orleans in 1997, where the Packers defeated the Patriots. Likewise, she was always there to cheer on the St Mary's Cougars and the Richland Center Hornets when her children, grandchildren and numerous other local athletes played a given sport. Joan will always be remembered for her unconditional love shown to her family and others. She leaves a legacy of being kind, caring, generous and unselfish.
Survivors include her three children: Steve (Ellen) of Richland Center, Greg (Linda) of Waukesha and Lisa of Saint Charles, Illinois. Four grandchildren: Samantha (Brandon) Salisbury, Kelsey Deets, Braeden Deets and Keaten Deets, three great-grandchildren: Kendall, Liam and Fulton Salisbury, sisters-in law: Marlene Yates and Sue Carter and many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry and her younger brother Larry Carter.
