HUDSON FALLS – Joan E. Diamond, 87, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, December 28, 2025 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home.
Born on September 22, 1938 in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Conley) Canales. Joan spent the first part of her childhood in Maine until she moved to Gansevoort, where she grew up. She met the love of her life, Robert E. Diamond and the two were married on November 13, 1955. Robert passed away on January 25, 2000.
Joan was a hard worker, starting her career at General Electric in Fort Edward. She then continued at Jarts Manufacturing in South Glens Falls, Glen Fab Bag and Liner in Queensbury, Glens Falls Printing, Web Graphics in West Glens Falls, and wrapped up her career at Coneco Laser Graphics in Glens Falls, where she retired.
Joan was fond of playing BINGO and enjoyed the Saratoga Casino and Raceway. She also loved to travel to Maine and getting her family together to make them a meal.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her son, Richard "Rick" Diamond; three siblings, Frank, Arlene, and Lorraine; and her very special uncle, Jim Conley.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Diamond, Jr. (Sue) of Queensbury, and Randy Diamond (Wendy) of Hudson Falls; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Diamond of Hudson Falls; seven grandchildren, Janelle Sipowicz (Mike), Jeffrey Diamond (Liz), Derek Keays (Danielle), Kyle Diamond (Joelle), Jason Diamond (Carleigh), Myranda Lynch (Adam), and Kelsey Diamond (Brennan); her sister, Ellen Taggart (Noel); brother, Bob Canales (Karen); ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026 at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. Rite of Committal will take place in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Edward.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff and nurses, especially Liz, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received during her time on G Wing.

Dear Randy, Bob and family,
Fond memories of your mom and Dad's git-r-done work attitude. She like your dad were very direct communicators that sometimes hurt, but always felt they had our backs. Joan's was a big part of putting Coneco on the national map! Sorry we can't be there for her viewing hours. Co-workers that turned into friendships!

You first suffered the loss of Joan when Alzheimer's interfered with her beautiful , supportive, personality. You gave her your time, support, love and attention to help her through that disease.
She has left you after her physical demise. You were always there for her.
