Joan Dragonetti Obituary

Dragonetti, M.D. Joan Adele (nee Celebre) Aged 90, passed away on February 18, 2024, in Honeybrook, PA. Born on September 27, 1933, in Philadelphia, PA, Joan was a renowned figure in the medical community, particularly in women's gynecological and obstetrical health. Her illustrious career included significant contributions at the University of Pennsylvania in women's oncology prevention, serving as a professor and mentor, and over twenty years in private practice as an OB/GYN, where she was cherished for her empathy and compassion towards her patients. Joan was not only a medical professional but also a vibrant artist and an exceptional cook. Her artwork in oils, acrylics, and pastels graced the halls of the Wayne Art Center. Known for her culinary skills, she mastered Italian, Asian, and various other cuisines, leaving a legacy of incredible pies, cakes, and desserts. Joan was an avid gardener, nurturing the best tomatoes and maintaining a beautiful rose garden along with various flowers, including orchids at her Malvern home, where she resided for 25 years. She earned her degree from Temple University/Women's College of Pennsylvania in 1960, a testament to her dedication and passion for her field. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Dragonetti, her brother Victor Celebre, D.P.M., and her parents, Gilda and Frederick Celebre. She leaves behind her loving children, Carla Dragonetti and Gerald Dragonetti, M.D.; her former daughter-in-law, Lynn Cooke Boni, M.D.; and her grandchildren, Jessica Dragonetti, a fourth year doctor of medicine student at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, and Annalise Dragonetti, a successful entrepreneur. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan's memory can be made to organizations close to her heart, including ASPCA, Alley Cat Allies, Main Line Animal Rescue, Humane Society of the United States, and the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Joan's legacy of compassion, dedication, and creativity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
