Joan East Obituary
She is survived by her children, Glenn East Jr., David East, and daughter-in-law Valerie Cancienne East; her grandchildren, Sarah Arnone and Hannah Jeansonne; and her great-grandchild Angelo (Ivy) Arnone IV. She is also survived by her siblings, David Coombes and June Smith; a host of nieces of nephews from both England and the United States; and wonderful lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Glenn L. East Sr.; her parents, Arthur Coombes and Violet Hummel Coombes; and her siblings, Doreen Walters, Ronald Coombes, and Raymond Coombes.
Brenda was a survivor of WWII and moved from England to the United States when she was 24 years old in the early 60's. She was drawn to New Orleans music and culture which eventually led her to her husband, Glenn East Sr. An avid gardener, Brenda loved spending time outdoors and tending to her flowers. Brenda also enjoyed doing crosswords. She was a dedicated Christian and a devote member of the Church of Christ.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until service time.

I never personally had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. East but I worked with her son Dave at Eustis Engineering. He used to share stories of his childhood and memories of his mother with us. She seemed like a wonderful person and my condolences go out to her family and of course Dave who we affectionately called, Turbo and we miss him and his stories of his late mother.
