Joan Fischer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home - Farmington on Jan. 12, 2026.
Joan F. Fischer of Livonia, Michigan, peacefully passed into eternal life late Tuesday evening, January 6, 2026, at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital. She was 83 years old.

Joan was born on March 2, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, the beloved daughter of the late Helen and John Hajdas. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Hajdas.

Joan was a woman of deep compassion and quiet strength. She was endlessly caring and supportive, never concerned about herself, but always focused on the well-being of those she loved-even while facing her own health challenges. Her life was defined by selflessness, devotion, and love.

She met the love of her life, Ronald Fischer, on a blind date, and from that moment forward they were inseparable. Married for 60 years, Joan and Ron were true soulmates who built a beautiful life together, centered on family, faith, and enduring love.

Born and raised in Detroit, Joan and Ron began their family there before settling in Livonia, where she resided for more than 50 years. Joan worked in downtown Detroit at Blue Cross and later continued her career at St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia, where her caring nature shone through in all she did.

Above all else, Joan was a devoted wife, an exceptional and loving mother, and a cherished grandmother. She shared a unique and special bond with each of her children and grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with her four granddaughters. Her home and heart were always open, filled with warmth, encouragement, and unconditional love.

Joan was creative by nature and found great joy in making crafts and sewing. She also loved listening to music, which brought her comfort and happiness throughout her life.

Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Fischer; her loving daughter, Christine (Gregory) Pagnucco, and granddaughters Grace and Claire; her son, Eric (Melissa) Fischer, and granddaughters Lily and Sophia; and her sisters, Mary Ann Luring and Carol Erickson. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Joan's life will be held at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 21300 Farmington Road, Farmington, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
