With heavy hearts and fond memories, we announce the passing of Joan Patricia Fleming-Robinson, who left us peacefully on December 8, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on November 18, 1936, in Newport, RI, daughter of the late Charles and Jessica (Truax) Perry. Joan was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched all who knew her.
Joan dedicated her life to caring for others, serving as a home healthcare aide and making a difference in the lives of countless individuals. She also shared her warmth and kindness as a teacher's aide at Fall River elementary schools, where her passion for nurturing young minds flourished. Her incredible sense of humor, often laced with delightful sarcasm, brought joy and laughter to her family and friends, reminding everyone to find the light in everyday moments.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, her friends, and loved to shop for that one treasure or new fashion. She was a member of the Red hat club and formally a member of the Mosaic club. Her lifelong friends include Louise Costley Nettie Ripa, Sis Sullivan, Ann Loughlin, Marian Randall. She also developed a great friendship with her neighbors who loved to play cards daily.
Joan is survived by her loving children Michael Fleming [Robin], Margaret Wiggins [Gary], Eileen Braman [Robert], Helen Boyd, James Fleming [Jennifer], John Fleming [Tina] and her brothers Billy Perry [Anita] and Ricky Perry [Gina]. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She will be profoundly missed by her family and many friends who were fortunate enough to experience her love and laughter.
Joan is predeceased by her siblings Arthur Perry, Ann Carson, Robert Perry and her daughters Patricia Oliveira, and Elizabeth Santiago, grandchild Emily Fleming.
A celebration of Joan's life will be held on December 14, 2024, with visiting hours starting at 12:00- 3:00 pm at Connors Funeral Home, with her funeral service at 2:30 PM. The family invites all who knew Joan to honor her memory and share in the joy of her life.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we celebrate the remarkable woman Joan was, cherishing the memories and laughter she brought into our lives. May she rest peacefully, forever in our hearts.
