Joan M. Flynn, age 87 of the Fox Hill Farms community in Glen Mills, PA passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born to Bertram & Margaret Stevenson in Philadelphia, Joan was raised in S.W. Philadelphia. She was a resident of the Fox Hill Farms community in Glen Mills for the past 24 years, previously residing in Drexel Hill, PA. A homemaker raising her family, she was later employed for Wyeth Labs for 10 years before retiring. Joan graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic H.S. for Girls. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church where she attended weekly. Joan also had a passion for games, including playing Mahjong with her group of friends. She also enjoyed playing Bocce and playing golf with her husband. Her other hobbies included reading and knitting prayer blankets for the church. Joan enjoyed summers at the Jersey shore, winters in Florida and going on cruises. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne Stumm. Joan is survived by her husband of 66 years, James J. Flynn, children, James (Clare) Flynn Jr., Peggy (Jim) Hayward, Maureen (Tim) Rafter, Christopher (Beth) Flynn and Brian (Kathy) Flynn, Son-in-law, Brian Stumm, siblings, Carol McLane & Bert Stevenson, grandchildren: John Flynn, Michael Stumm, Timmy Stumm, Meghan Rafter, Timmy Rafter, Colleen Rafter, Maggie Flynn, Seamus Flynn, Kylie Flynn, Amanda Schweighardt, Alicia Pollard and 6 great grandchildren: Dylan, Molly, Lucy, Madilyn, Emily, Holden, and 5 great step-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 10:15-11:15AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (New Church), 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM.
