Joan E. (Fallo) Grandy, 89, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning, December 25, 2025, at Complete Care at Meriden following a courageous and lengthy battle with dementia. She is now reunited with her loving husband of 66 years, Stanley P. Grandy, who predeceased her in 2022. In a poignant twist of fate, Joan departed this life on her husband's favorite holiday.
Joan was born on April 22, 1936, in
New Britain, CT daughter to the late James and Lena (Cannarella) Fallo. Joan was raised and educated in New Britain, where her journey began. Her path crossed with that of her husband in their hometown, igniting a deep and abiding love. The couple married on June 18,1955 and settled in Plainville, where they built a life filled with cherished memories, raising a family that was their pride and joy. Eventually, Joan and Stanley made their home in Rocky Hill, where they resided up until Stanley's passing.
Joan enjoyed a fulfilling career as an office manager and bookkeeper for the former Connecticut Furriers in New Britain. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she lived a vibrant life filled with adventure and laughter. Together, Joan and Stanley shared countless carefree moments as they explored the thrill of gambling, often frequenting Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. In addition, they traveled on cruises and to lively destinations like Hawaii, Bahamas, Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Joan was an avid fan of UCONN basketball, where she could always be found cheering loudly for both the women's and men's teams. Her enthusiasm for sports was matched only by her love for crossword puzzles, which she tackled with determination and tenacity. A devoted reader, Joan found delight in the pages of countless books, traveling through stories that expanded her horizons and sparked her imagination.
Joan's greatest treasures were her family. She cultivated an environment rich in love, where every gathering was an opportunity for connection, storytelling, and creating lasting memories. She will be missed beyond measure, but her family takes comfort in knowing she is finally at peace as they rejoice in the cherished memories she leaves behind.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Debbie Grandy, of Winsted; her son, Peter Grandy and his wife, Gabriella Albini, of Cheshire; her grandsons, Alexander Grandy and his wife, Annie, of West Hartford, and Nicholas Grandy and his wife, Chrissy, of MA; her granddaughters, Lauren Grandy, of Farmington and Rachel Kimber, of MA; her great-grandchildren, Brady and Braelyn Kimber; and Jackson, Hannah and Morgan Grandy, Nora Grandy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Adam Bell, and her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Rob Winslow.
