When I think of you, I think of pure love.
A love that never asked for anything in return, a love that reached out to me and my children and made us feel like true family.
Your heart was giant.
Not just in size, but in the way it embraced us.
You had a way of making us feel like we were the most important person in the room.
That caring smile, made us know you truly cared. You loved unconditionally.
That is your legacy.
You didn´t judge, you didn´t turn away.
You welcomed, you encouraged, you comforted.
You showed us, what it means to live with kindness. We´ll remember you not only for the love you gave, but for the way you made us feel.
The way you reminded us that we mattered.
The way your presence alone could make a room feel lighter, happier and calm.
Your passing leaves a terrible ache in our hearts,
but it also leaves us with a gift,
the gift of your example.
If we can love just a little more like you did,
if we can open our hearts as wide as yours was, then your spirit will always live on through us.
So as we say goodbye,
but more importantly we say thank you.
Thank you, Joanie,
for teaching us how to love.
For making us feel loved.
For blessing us with your beautiful heart.
Rest peacefully, Joanie.
You will always be with us.
Love James, Jamie and Sidnee.
