Joan M. Guyer Weaver Sockwell Snead departed this life in Royston, Georgia on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. She was born August 5, 1940, in Savannah, Georgia.
Spoiled by her parents, Clarence and Betty Guyer, Joan was a sister to Leonard and Charles Guyer, all of whom are deceased.
Married first, to that "Damn Yankee" Glenn Weaver, who died in 1985. They raised their four daughters Debbie Cela (Tony), Laura Weaver (deceased), Lisa Taylor and Janet Dryman on Tybee Island. Joan was active in many of the Islands community organizations and was a member of Trinity Chapel Church.
After Glenn's death she married Bill Sockwell, moved to North Georgia and happily enjoyed 12 years of life with him.
Her third marriage to Larry Snead ended with his death in 2022.
In addition to her daughters, Joan is survived by granddaughter Laura Miller; Grandsons, D. Carver, Glenn Carver, Reece Weaver and three great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Joan Guyer and Judy U. Guyer; nieces Pam Buttimer (Terry), Andrea Padgett (Patrick), Cristina G. Whetsell, Vicki Weaver Kennedy, Gayle Maze, Gaye Naron; nephews Guy Koppi and Charles Lee Guyer; plus, multiple grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Brown Rehabilitation & Care Center in Royston for the care and friendship they gave Joan over the past three years.
A memorial service for Joan will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 10, 2023 at Trinity Chapel Church on Tybee Island.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in Joan's name to either Trinity Chapel Church, 911 Butler Ave., Tybee Island, GA 31328 or the American Legion Post 154, Tybee Island, GA.
Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.

We were sorry to hear about Joan's passing. She was a very happy person and always had a smile and a good word for everyone. We have memories of Glen and her on Tybee. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
