Joan Louise Herlocker

Joan was born in Petaluma November 28,1935, to her parents Angelo and Lillian Arata. Her mother passed away a few months after her birth and she was then raised by the Garibaldi
family. Antonio and Amelia Garibaldi along with their three sons and daughter, they made Joan a part of their family in Vallejo Ca.
Joan went to Vallejo high School and graduated in 1954. She worked at the family market on Tennessee Street in Vallejo. In June 1962, after a two-year courtship, Joan married Bill Herlocker. Joan loved to bowl and was part of a bowling league at Miracle Bowl, Vallejo Bowl and Kentwig. She was additionally a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Vallejo.
In 1975, Joan and Bill opened Ideal Drugs on North Texas St. in Fairfield. They later opened Medical Clinic Pharmacy on Empire St which they ran until they sold the pharmacy to Safeway in 2004.
In 1998, they moved to Green Valley where they lived for many years. They traveled with their friends and relatives during retirement.
Lee Gile, was one of Joan's best friends. He was a loyal friend throughout her life and she always appreciated his checking in on her in Sacramento in her last months. Joan had many friends that were very special to her-Adeline Nettleton was her oldest friend, and she always valued her relationship with her neighbors, Donna and Jim Hansen.
Joan was well cared for by her family and wonderful caregivers Lani, Meeyah, and Shaunte. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Bill of 62 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Terri (Dave) Mikolajewski, Vickie (Jeff) Wilson and Kelly (John) Latimer; six grandchildren Lauren Braun, Jack Wilson, Olivia Wilson, Julia Latimer, Claire Latimer, Emily Latimer and two great grandchildren Cameron and Jack. She also survived by her sister, Margaret Anthony; sisters-in-law, Gloria Garibaldi, and Sally Gerlach as well as brothers-in-law Bob and Danny Herlocker.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; and her brothers, Joe, Lou and Bill Garibaldi and Ray and Melvin Arata.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the direction and care of Twin Chapels Mortuary in Vallejo. All services will be private.
