Joan Milhaupt died on September 24, 2025 at the tender age of 95. Joan was born in Little Chute, Wisconsin on January 15, 1930, the third of nine children of the late John and Delia Hermsen.
On July 21, 1951, Joan married Larry Milhaupt, he preceded her in death in 2006. Family was her whole world! She took great delight in hearing what everyone was up to! She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, incredible friend and confidant.
Survivors include seven children: Jim (Lynne) Milhaupt of Combined Locks, Don (Mark Holt) Milhaupt of San Francisco, Connie (John) Meinke of Neenah, Laurie Tomasini of Madison, Mary Milhaupt of Madison, Joe (Rene) Milhaupt of Green Bay, and Larry Milhaupt of St. Charles, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren: Trevor Milhaupt, Ben (Tiffany) Milhaupt, Maggie (Josh) Tennie, Franny (Jon) Hodgson, Chad (Beth) DeLeeuw, Lori (Don) LaValle, Dion (Tianna) Tomasini, Gillian Tomasini, Malcolm (Hannah)Halsey-Milhaupt, Julian Halsey-Milhaupt, Adam (Jordan) Milhaupt, Sam (Brooke) Milhaupt, Luke Milhaupt, Nick (Vanessa) Milhaupt, Michael (Lisa) Colaluca, Elizabeth Colaluca; seventeen great-grandchildren: Alexis Bruhn, Mikaela Milhaupt, Titan Milhaupt; Imogen and Cosmo Tomasini; Mabel Tennie; Jameson Milhaupt; Gavin, Amelia, and Owen Milhaupt; Eleanor, Griffin, and Adeline Milhaupt; Calla DeLeeuw; Carter, Mason and Logan LaValle. One great-great grandchild, Theo Milhaupt. She is also survived by her sisters Audrey Pire, Jeannie Hermus and Lori Staniak; her brother, Don (Diane) Hermsen, her sisters-in-law, Pat Hermsen and Peg Desteffen as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved so much.
Joan was preceded in death by her son, Charles John Milhaupt; son-in-law, Steve Tomasini; daughter-in-law, Linda Halsey; siblings and in-laws: Reggie (Nancy) Hermsen, Gladys (Art) Schmidt, Lois (Tom) Knutson, Roger Hermsen, Rudy Hermus, Tom Staniak, Bill Pire, as well as Larry’s siblings and in-laws: Winnie (Arthur) Hofkens, Jean (Alan) Mory, Leo (Augusta) Milhaupt, Kenneth (Jane) Milhaupt, Robert (Betty) Milhaupt, Richard Milhaupt and Donald Milhaupt.
The funeral liturgy for Joan will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 1 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton with Br. Ray Stadmeyer OFM Cap. officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM on Wednesday until the time of service. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
