Etta A. "Arlie" Hahn

Etta Arlene (Arlie) Hahn, Age 106, of Dimensions Living Center in Appleton, Wisconsin passed away on September 21, 2025. Arlie was born on December 25, 1918 in Blanchardville, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Alfred and Emma (nee Anschutz) Grossenbacher. Her birth parents died in 1920 as a result of the Spanish flu. She was then taken in by a neighbor, Mr. Schindler. Later Mr. Edward Krueger and his wife Mathilda "Tillie" of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, took her home and later formally adopted her.

Arlie was baptized by Rev. Kansier at St. Peters Lutheran church and was confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran church in Reedsburg, WI. She attended Twin Pines Country School for five years and then St. Peters Lutheran Grade School and in 1936, graduated from Reedsburg High School. She then married Lester Hahn on March 12, 1939 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. They farmed in the Reedsburg area until 1949.

They then moved to Markesan in 1953 where Lester managed the Grand River Cooperative until 1980 when he retired. She and Lester moved back to Reedsburg in 1991. They spent many winters in Florida and they both made and sold crafts. They also enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel trailer.

While living in Markesan. Arlie worked for a while at Speed Queen in Ripon, Wi. and then worked in the office of The Waupun Correctional Institute.

After Lester died in 2006, Arlie moved to Appleton, Wisconsin to be near her daughter.

Arlie is survived by her three children; Edward (Jacqueline) of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Rosalie Rausch of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin and Lorin (Brenda) of Jackson, Ohio. She is further survived by eight grandchildren, 14 great grand-children and seven great-great grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her three siblings, an infant daughter (Lois) and her husband, Lester.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Appleton, Wisconsin. She was always happiest spending time with her family or while playing sheepshead with fellow residents of the senior housing complex in Appleton that she lived in prior to moving to Dimensions in 2018.
