Joan Rose Judd Joan Rose (Bolger) Judd, 83, a long-time resident of Gloucester and native of Bridgeport, Pennsylvania died peacefully at home on Monday November 10, 2014, attended to and surrounded by her loving family. Joan will always be remembered for her kindness to all she met, her love of children, flowers and painting. She raised her nine children in Gloucester, all attending St. Ann's School. She enjoyed keeping up with her 16 grandchildren encouraging them that they could do anything they set their mind to. She loved her many family gatherings especially during the holidays. Joan loved to sketch in her early years and later learned to paint by attending local painting classes and groups including being an associate member of Rockport Art Association and North Shore Art Association. She enjoyed working in her gardens daily and could be found there on occasion from dawn to the early evening hours. She would often have cut flowers in her home and they would be the subject of many of her paintings. Her creativity stretched from sewing to decorating to her keen sense of fashion. She enjoyed many walks along the ocean in her adopted hometown of Gloucester. Joan loved to read and was often found with the newspaper sitting in her favorite chair overlooking Gloucester Harbor. After her children were grown, Joan discovered the joy of travel and took trips to France, Ireland, Hawaii and Portugal to experience new places with family and friends as well as many trips across the country to visit her grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose Bolger, husband, Wallace Morton Judd, and eldest child, Peter J. Judd. She is survived by her children, Suzanne T. Arnold (Jason J. Arnold) of Hamilton, MA, Michael M. Judd ( Laney Judd) of Woburn, MA, Jennifer E. Anyon (William T. Anyon, III) of Windham, NH, Nancy A. Judd of Gloucester, Wilhelmina Sheedy Moores of Rockport, Daniel F. Judd of Gloucester, Mary Beth Wayne (Thomas Wayne) of Greensboro, NC, John Paul Judd (Carole D. Judd) of Lynnfield, MA, and her daughter in law, Carol Schaefer Judd of Gloucester. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren, Justin D. Arnold (Tamar Arnold) of San Francisco, CA; Patrick J. Arnold (Jessica Arnold) of Redwood City, CA; Heather E. Arnold of San Francisco, CA, Janice R. Judd and Holly A. Judd of Woburn, MA, Emily R. Anyon and Joseph T. Anyon of Windham, NH, Jill E. Trahon of Honolulu, Hawaii, Christopher C. Trahon of Gloucester, Olivia Helen Sheedy of Madrid, Spain, Sarah R. Wayne of Newport, VT, Kristen M. Wayne and Norah Wayne of Greensboro, NC, Jaclyn D. Judd of South Portland Maine, Kathryn E. Judd and Tyler R. Judd of Lynnfield, MA;her great-granddaughter, Taline A. Arnold and extended family members in Pennsylvania. Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Joachim's Church, Holy Family Parish on Saturday, Nov. 15th at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. The burial will be held privately.
