Joan Lucille Knowles

Joan Lucille Knowles, 86, aka Mema, passed peacefully in her sleep in the company of friends and family. Joan was born to Fred Ross Sanders and Ada Lucille Hall Sanders on February 15, 1940.

Joan was an avid quilter and accomplished seamstress. She loved reading books, listening to music, she enjoyed her plants, gaming, fishing and outdoor activities with friends and family.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, niece and cousin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gerald Knowles; father, Fred Ross Sanders; mother, Ada Lucille Sanders.

Joan is survived by her children - Joel Knowles (Cathy) and Teresa Knowles (Guy); grandchildren - Kevin Knowles, Jeff Knowles, Jonathan (Keilah) Knowles and Amber Hinkle; great-grandchildren – Emma Knowles, Kaci Knowles, Jaxon Spiers, Roxanne Knowles and Rowan Knowles; brothers -Charlie "Bud" (Jean) Sanders, Jimmy (Ginny) Sanders, Hershell (Jean Kay) Sanders, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury, Texas beginning at 10:00 AM.
